Role
Staff Designer on the award-winning VA Health & Benefits mobile app team, creating a comprehensive digital experience that connects Veterans with the full spectrum of VA services.
I focused on visual and interaction design, applying research and design principles to exceed expectations for government digital experiences while collaborating with stakeholders to develop a mobile companion to VA.gov.
Challenge
Veterans needed a unified access point that consolidated essential tasks across multiple VA touch points. We launched an MVP to address this need while continuously monitoring for improvements. Success depended on strong user engagement and intuitive design that genuinely served Veteran communities.

Strategy
VA wanted a dedicated mobile experience to elevate the most frequently accessed daily tasks from VA.gov. I collaborated with stakeholders to understand user priorities while usage statistics provided crucial evidence for MVP support and data-informed design decisions.
Results
The app serves millions of active users with a 4.8-star rating across iOS and Android. I developed an accessible mobile design system as a foundation for other VA mobile projects and worked across teams to create integrated functionality.
After demonstrating the app at the Elizabeth Dole Foundation Caregivers Summit, my contributions helped it become a finalist for the Samuel J Heyman Service to America award, recognizing excellence in public service innovation.
